Artist Statement:
“To
appreciate the beauty of creation is to feel the closeness of the Creator.”
“In
the midst of chaos that surrounds us I think it is even more important today
to focus on the beauty that has been gifted to us and maybe somewhere,
somehow we will recognize balance and peaceful order in our lives. As
I look around any day, everyday, I am in awe of what I see. In a
crevice of space, a corner, or even a vast area, the color, the shapes, the
shadows, the light pulled together for our enjoyment – our gift from the
Giver. This attraction to color, the light and the mood it creates,
becomes for me a gentle flow as I observe it changing throughout a day. It
flows on from season to season, as life moves on with sometimes seemingly a
babbling brook and other times a rushing stream. “It has been said with
profound insight that “beauty will save the world”.(1)
Using my camera, pastel and ultrachrome ink, uniting old master techniques
and theory with new technology, I endeavor to reflect the surrounding beauty
through my art. My hope is to share that vision as seen through my eyes,
heart, experience, and hopefully refocus on how beautiful life really is.”

Holiness Pope John Paul II To Artists 1999.
